Thank you, I tried that and got an error 3014 and made sure all the requirements were met that it suggested about the error. Like the latest version of itunes (v11), mY WINxp is completely up to date, no other USB devices are plugged in, turned off the the firewall. I'm not sure where to go from here, except maybe the apple store approx. 30 miles away tomorrow. All this started when I clicked Restore from within itunes due to my iphone acting strange, like not updating apps from icloud. If the Restore button is going to cause all this trouble, maybe they should leave it out of itunes. Any more suggestions???
