I am working on a mechanical solution and looking at the details on the Pro-2000 service manual to better understand the engineering behind these Canon wide formats. A key aspect to Canon philosophy is the use of a Sub ink tanks and understanding how it operates. I already have prototypes to confirm the functional aspects.If you did not know. The 1000, 2000, 4000 and 6000 share the identical printhead and print engine and also share the same print profiles etc.
From desktop to the massive monster.This is a big difference to Epson where the print engines changes as the models change.So essentially Canon is giving you the best print technology they know how even on a desktop model. This is unprecedented.My goal is to try and create an 'Ecotank' machine in a Pro-1000. I already have over 50 profiles on my site for this machine with a lot of fine art papers. If I were to succeed on the Ecotank concept, this would make this machine the ultimate desktop ever and it would be refill friendly. The 'ecotank' design will likely be opensourced as well where it will be revealed as to how it is done. Click to expand.Do you have the service manual for the PRO-2000, I have been unable to find it on-line. I have 6 Pro-2000 printers I picked up at auction. 4 print perfectly, one I have not checked and one is still brand new on a pallet, where it was damaged in shipping.
One of the back covers is cracked, and I am thinking of repairing it from one of the others with about 1K Sq Ft printed. Not sure what to do with the printers, as there seems to be no used market for these beautiful machines. I could always scavenge the head and inks and scrap out the rest, but it seems a shame to throw away such a magnificent testament to human creativity. Any Ideas where I could find a home for these printers?
