I would contact the software center about this. Installation instructions vary among different programs.Matlab you actually download through your Mathworks account, which you setup using your tamu email address.
If you were deliberately moving computers, you would deactivate the software on the old one, download on the new one, and look up the activation key from Mathworks.I'm sure there is a method to generate a new activation key from Mathworks that invalidates the old one you had should your old computer break. You can always download the software as far as I know through your Mathworks account, but it's worthless without the activation key.
