This section describes how to configure LDAP with Task Management System (TMS) on the BMC Remedy AR System server.LDAP configuration with TMS on the AR System server is done in two steps. First, the connection to the designated LDAP server is configured through ARDBC LDAP Configuration form with BMC Remedy User or a browser. The next step is to edit the TMS:LDAPUser and TMS:LDAPGroup forms in BMC Remedy Developer Studio. This procedure also covers integration with the Sun ONE directory server. For more information about LDAP plug-ins, see in the BMC Remedy AR System documentation.

We have been installing SunONE Directory Server 5.2 (FKA iPlanet) on Windows for years now and it just started giving me fits on the Windows Server 2008 OS. I am looking for the newer version of this Sun Directory Server or the equivalent modern replacement for it. There are many code snippets out there for DirectoryServices but trying to find one that actually connects to and works with Sun One LDAP or any other platform other than AD is not so easy! This will help users work with alternative LDAP solutions. The concept of LDAP and having web pages talk to it.

You must be a BMC Remedy Action Request System Administrator user to perform this procedure.

Hello,Has anyone had performance and connection trouble with the Sun and Netscape directory server MA? After much diagnosing by our LDAP admin and myself, we have come to our wits end.

I'm not dealing with a complex environment, just Sun DSEE 6.0 (w/ proxy (serveral thousand objects) and a small Active Directory test environment (300 objects). The specific problem we're running into usually occurs during a full import of the LDAP server. We're only able to import 30 to 40 objects / second with the Sun MA (the OpenLDAP MA does 5000 objects / second) without SSL.

Other LDAP clients are able to perform the same searches much quicker on the same server (jxplorer, ldap browser, etc.) After around 500 to 1000 objects the server import run fails and returns a 'dropped-connection' error.A packet capture on the LDAP server reveals that the MA is requesting LDAP BINDs over and over. We also see many ABANDON REQUESTS which is abnormal. It's almost like the MA is requesting objects and then abandoning them before the timeout peroid.

We suspected something might be wrong with the network, but I can't find any evidence of this. I would be surprised if the network were the culprit especially with the acceptable performance of the LDAP clients on the same sever as MIIS.The behavior of the Sun MA seems highly erratic to us but we haven't been able to find anyone else that's had a similar experience. I'm pretty sure there is a configuration error somewhere in our setup.

Also, the MA occasionally has trouble logging into the LDAP server and returns a 'failed-connection'. Again, LDAP clients connect with no trouble at all. Thanks,John GraftonUniversity of Texas at San Antonio.

In an earlier version we issued a fix that allows you to specify the identification string that we will detect as a valid version of the server. Although the behavior I would expect is an inability to connect, it sounds like you're getting a fallback to iPlanet 4.x MA behavior, which didn't know how to use page searches, and that sounds like what you're seeing. The fix requires that you specify a registry entry as follows (this is from the release notes for MIIS 2003 SP2):. After you apply a SunOne update to the SunOne server so that the nsslapd-version in cn=config is no longer set to a supported directory string, both newly created management agents and existing management agents will not import from the SunOne server. You receive an error message that states that the SunOne system is an unsupported version.
